TODAY IS THE DAY!!!! . . . the day we put over 30,000 people in front of the Body by Vi $10,000,000 Challenge . . .

Is today the day you make a different choice?

Jumping for Joy

If I'd known I was going to live so long,I'd have taken better care of myself.

- Leon Eldred

Those who do not find time for exercise will have to find time for illness.

-Earl of Derby

. . . and many, many more

So what is it about exercise? How come some people absolutely love to workout & others absolutely dread working out? Or is it really that most of us have to talk ourselves into working out? We know that it is good for us. We know that to truly live the life we desire, exercise really ought to be a part of the package. We know that a workout really doesn't take all that much time ~ often way less time & energy to workout than to think about, dwell on it, procrastinate & finally make it to the gym. Probably could have completed 3 workouts in all the time spent in your head convincing yourself that, yes, I will go to the gym. What is this all about?

Is a workout really that terrible?? I don't know about you, but I always feel energized & upbeat after a workout - good or bad. I mean, getting the heart pumping, breaking a sweat, or excuse me, glistening with perspiration, experiencing the rush of endorphins, leaving the gym feeling tired, yet on top of the world . . . how can any of this be anything other than a positive? For me, there really is nothing else like it, well, except for maybe . . . and I'll let you fill in this blank______. [ You'd probably enjoy this way more if a trip to the gym were a regular part of your routine as well = ) ]

Is it really possible to have a bad workout? After all, some exercise is better than no exercise isn't it? Surely if the gym is not your thing, there is something else you can do that will fill the bill . . . I mean like Nike says "Just Do IT" and who knows what the outcome might be. At minimum, you will feel so much better about yourself & your day.

Physical fitness is not one of the most important keys to a healthy body; it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity.

Procrastination

Procrastination makes easy things hard, hard things harder.

~ Mason Cooley

Procrastination, not an untameable beast, but rather a habit of some specific origin . . . a habit that can be overcome.
Everyone procrastinates . . .

What is it that you will do your best to avoid? Isn't it interesting the amount of energy one can & will expend all in the effort of avoiding - consciously or otherwise . . . The most common causes of procrastination are fear, low self esteem, perfectionism, underestimating the time you have to do something, indecision, distractions and letting the past rule your future.

What to do?

Most important, is your attitude. Kick starting your subconscious into action will give you ideas, as well as working to calm you down, both being extremely important.
Replacing negative thoughts with positive ones neutralize bad feelings, and enable focus on a solution rather than a problem. When we focus on a solution, our subconscious kicks in and helps to find answers. Focusing on the problem, only encourages the good old subconscious to give us more reasons to worry, which then strengthens & supports the procrastination within us thus easing the pain.

When we make supporting choices and move into action, procrastination can be avoided and then and only then can we move along the path towards work and life success.

HONOUR

Definition of HONUR according to dictionary.com: a tangible symbol signifying approval or distinction; show respect towards

When was the last time you took the time to really stop and honour someone, something or even better yourself?

We live in an incredibly busy, often non connected world. Yes, I recognize that we have the internet, cell phones, texting, email, all the technological advantages of the times, which offer the perception of connection. Yet, in reality are we really more connected to one another or better able to be disconnected with ourselves and others? Have our lives & relationships been enriched through personal connection or less so with all of this?

I am no different than anyone else out there living their life each and everyday, choosing to be the best person I can be. I am busy, actually, really quite a master at keeping myself busy. I carry a cell phone/blackberry with me most everywhere I go. I check my email regularly, often several times a day. I love my ITouch. I go to the gym regularly and always have my headset with me. Am I more connected? Am I honouring myself or others?

The past bit, I have been busy, genuinely busy. In this busyness, I have not had the same opportunity and access to the above mentioned. You know what, I have to say, that I truly feel I have been far more connected, connected on a personal level, not only with myself, but with others as well. In recognizing this, what I have come to realize for me, is that when I am living my life fully, in my own skin, doing what is true to me, I am actually honouring myself and others. It not only feels great, it is absolutely amazing what the Universe sends back!

When was the last time you took the time to check in with yourself? Truly honoured yourself? Are you living your life from a place worthy of your own recognition, honour and celebration? I encourage you to try it, you just might like it. When we look after ourselves, truly honour ourselves, it can't help but spill over into the rest of our world.

Insist on yourself. Never imitate.

The Way I See It . . .

Times are very interesting right now. For starts, like it or not, history was made this week. My sense is that HOPE is in the air. Not just in North America, but a feeling of global HOPE. Something that I do not remember experiencing in my life time. My thoughts - is this not a positive? Is it not true that HOPE sees the invisible, feels the intangible and achieves the impossible? Yet, I am somewhat bewildered . . . I am having a hard time comprehending the intense reactions of many. Reactions based on what?? Media? Hearsay? Gossip? Learned Behaviour?

We all have buttons, buttons that when triggered, can and do evoke novel responses - often not the most enlightened of responses. I find this to be very curious. In fact, it has been renting a fair bit of space in my being. Now, don't get me wrong, I am the first to admit that my own responses can be just as puzzling as the next persons. This has led me to ponder where these reactions come from . . . I understand that all behaviour is learned and that much of our learning happens very early in our lives - childhood. Can you really teach older 'dogs' new tricks?

"People need to see that far from being an obstacle, the world's diversity of languages, religions & traditions is a great treasure affording us precious opportunities to recognize ourselves in others."

The Rippling . . .

How often do you make the conscious decison to spread good will, light, laughter and joy? Do you do this daily? Weekly? Monthly? Or, do you go about your day, your life, not really giving much thought to the energy, the vibration you are sending out to the rest of the world?

What if the next time you passed someone on the sidewalk, you actually made eye contact with them, greeted them and wished them a nice day? How do you think they might feel? How do you think you might feel?

What ever happened to treating others as you would like to be treated? I don't know about you, however, I know that I can get myself caught up in my own little world and forget to share the joy in my heart with those I meet throughout my day . . . in the line at the grocery store, the person who let me in, in traffic, the garbage man - whoever. Imagine what a smile, a nod or a wave might say. Imagine the rippling it might create.

If we look around us, listen to the media, read the newspaper, watch the stock market, we could allow ourselves to be inundated with doom and gloom, negative. However, if we all decided to attempt to brighten one other persons world each day - with a smile, with a card, with a telephone call, with a Thank You - something simple, yet genuinely from the heart, imagine the wave we might create . . .

What we see in front of us, is what we have created for ourselves. What would you like to see in front of you?

Life is too short for drama & petty things, so kiss slowly, laugh insanely, love truly and forgive quickly.

I would like to support you in spreading the joy, the rippling . . . if you would like to send a free greeting card to someone please go to: http://www.cardsatwork.ca/ my gift to you!
